A User Researcher is curious about people and their behaviour. Sifting through the layers of behaviour requires an analytical and organized mind as well as the ability to analyse insights for patterns to glean the true meaning behind human actions which aren’t always directly articulated.
What is a UX Researcher?
User Researchers probe for meaning via attitudinal and behavioural research techniques using a variety of quantitative and qualitative methods. They are articulate and intelligent, with solid communication skills. User Researcher jobs require individuals who are as computer savvy as they are people-friendly, since their work entails sifting through and finding meaning in data as well as gathering data from people. The User Researcher is truly the detective of the experience design world, as they probe and search for patterns in behaviour.
The User Researcher will be responsible for identifying the best method of research based on research goals, resources and constraints before conducting and reporting back on the insights. The Researcher is responsible for all aspects of research (planning, recruiting, moderation, analysis, reporting) for both generative (participatory design) and evaluative (usability testing) research. You will be using a variety of user testing methodologies to reveal actionable customer insights. You will also be comfortable working with data, from gathering and analysis through to the design of representative research artefacts and presentation.
