UX Designer – Belfast (£25k - £35k)
Do you have at least two years’ experience in UX design? Are you comfortable creating wireframes, prototypes, personas and journey maps? Would you like to work on a range of projects that includes learning portals, eLearning solutions, user interfaces, product simulations, and game-based learning apps?
This UX design job is based in Belfast and comes with a salary of circa £25k - £35k per annum. Benefits include a contributory pension scheme and a health plan.
Who is the company?
This is a family run business that employee’s just over 30 people in Belfast and has been operating for nearly 20 years. The team consists of creative designers, software developers, educators, sales and marketing, and client services.
Their core business is developing software to facilitate learning and development for the public and private sectors. Essentially, they are experts in creating e-learning portals to facilitate a wide range of training including compliance, HR, GDPR, Equality, and more. These portals are custom built for each requirement and offer a wide range of features to manage online and classroom-based learning.
What is the working environment like?
The development and design teams work very closely together. In fact, if you are a UX designer who also likes to get involved in front-end development, then this would be the perfect job for you. The company loves people who can get involved in several different areas where they can add value.
Although this company has a large range of clients in a number of different sectors, you would not be expected to work to tight deadlines unlike digital agencies for example. Projects tend to take longer to develop and implement due to the bespoke nature of the product.
What does the job involve?
The successful UX designer will work with other designers and developers on varied projects that will include learning portals, eLearning solutions, user interfaces, product simulations, and game-based learning apps.
What skills are essential?
You will need a minimum of 2 years’ experience in UX design and a strong portfolio to showcase at the interview. You will have a good understanding of UX methodologies. You will need to have conducted user testing sessions, user interviews and focus groups in the past. You will also need to be proficient at creating wireframes, prototypes, personas and journey maps.
We would really like to see applications from UX designer that can also work with front-end technologies, but this is not essential.
