Technical leadership & strategy. This is a real opportunity to shape the future strategy of this complex, high profile organisation. Evaluation of new technologies, how they could be best utilised by the business, evaluation of the cost benefits and how they could be incorporated into the current technology stack. Identify the best options for solution delivery, evaluating in-house versus 3rd party.


Work closely with the internal teams and external 3rd party suppliers in terms of full project pipeline & deliverables. This role will have commercial oversight on all 3rd party vendors, ensuring quality, value for money and by providing rigor for all external spend. With particular emphasis on ensuring the validity & completeness of the project scope as well as the external estimates and associated costings.


Governance of group projects, ensuring due process & procedure, as well as ensuring milestones, risk, change management, status reporting and scope slippage are identified and addressed. As a member of the senior management team, the successful candidate will report on all projects ensuring that the SMT is kept updated.


Responsible for the identification of best practice across the digital technology group, ensuring adoption of all internal standards. The technologies utilised are broad and include security, infrastructure and development. The successful candidate must have a broad base technical knowledge which includes the ability to provide professional standards within a development environment (development standards, source control, release cycles, QA testing). Please note you will not be expected to write code, but you will be expected to ensure the quality of the development team’s deliverables.
