Software Developer (JavaScript) – Belfast - £45k

This job is much more than just a coding position.

Yes, you need to have strong JavaScript skills that include a popular framework such as React, Angular or Vue.

Yes, you will have to be comfortable using or learning Node and writing server-side JavaScript.

More importantly, you need to be able to voice your opinions and help shape the technical direction of a top start-up so that they can become the market leader in sports facility management.

You will be given a lot of autonomy in this position. We want to hear from developers that can introduce new tech that will improve the platform or come up with new features that will benefit a fast-growing customer base.

So, who exactly is this company and what have they created that is so unique?

Around four years ago, the founders of this software house realised that the current processes for managing sports facilities used by councils and sports clubs doesn’t work. This was having a negative impact on the future of facilities and the opportunity for people to get active.

If you ever had to organise 5-a-side football on a weekly basis you can relate to this!

They created a platform that delivers the best way to find, book, and manage sports facilities. This platform helps eliminate the administration of managing facilities, increases bookings for facilities, and leads more people to get more active.

The company has managed to facilitate over 15,000 sports sessions so far with clients including Oxford City Council, and in February of this year, they secured considerable investment to grow its platform and become a market leader in the sports facility management space.

Ideally, you’ll have at least two years’ experience building production-ready front-end applications in React, Angular or Vue. It would be great if you had experience with Node.js and writing server-side JavaScript, but it’s not essential. If you don’t have this experience, you’ll just need a desire to learn and expand your skill set in this area. The main thing is that you’ll have the ability to clearly express opinions on product design while respecting the thoughts and opinions of their peers.
