Senior Back-End Engineer – fully remote (£40k - £60k)
Like you, I was glad when live sports came back on our screens.
Was it exactly like before?
No. It was strange watching the final stages of the champions league without the fans. Or watching rugby without any scrums.
What didn’t change though was how important an athlete’s preparation is before match day.
Athletes thrive in an organised environment.
In the minutes before games, they can take solace from the fact that they have given everything to their preparation. By noting the extra physio sessions, training sessions and time in analysis, they can reassure themselves that nothing has been left to chance.
The problem today is that sporting organisations across the world have never been consistent about the way they communicate information.
Some of the greatest football teams in the world are still scanning in PDFs and sending emails or WhatsApp messages to players to tell them where they need to be. Players are limited in their freedom to engineer their own performance or access central information.
This Northern Irish sports tech company has developed a platform that puts the player at the forefront, helping them to schedule their own medical appointments, analyse their own training data and remain in direct contact with their coaches. They are spearheading the way to help clubs and athletes streamline information, organise their time better and improve their performance.
Various teams across England, Ireland and the USA now use the platform to great effect.
You can now join them on the next phase of their journey and help develop the platform so they can reach the next level.
We are looking for a Senior Back-End Developer to build out the next generation of scheduling and communications APIs for professional sports clubs. They develop most APIs with Ruby on Rails, knowing Ruby isn’t a prerequisite, although a big advantage. We will consider a developer who is skilled in any language such as Ruby, Python, GO, Java etc and who have used analogous web frameworks to Rails. You will need experience in API design and implementation. Some experience with deployment environments and cloud technologies such as Heroku or Kubernetes would be useful, but not essential.
You would be joining an ambitious start-up that needs you to be skilled, wanting to learn, focused, dogged, and fast-paced. They have a strong ethos that values positive intent, teamwork, driven by diversity, with a no-blame culture.
An excellent salary with share options is on offer. Remote working is fully supported. For more info give me a call/text/WhatsApp on 077 8988 6539 or send a CV using the links provided.
