PHP Developer – Antrim (£35k - £45k)

Can you use your PHP development skills to make a genuine difference in people lives?

You may not think so, but the answer is yes!

Everyone needs to be able to understand the world as well as being able to be understood and language is the passport to communication and understanding.  However, literacy isn’t a privilege that we all enjoy equally.

Children struggling to read and write can often lose confidence with life-long consequence.  People with learning difficulties like dyslexia can find everyday tasks frustrating.

This local company believes that everyone deserves to be heard and have created technology that helps people all over the world express themselves with greater confidence and fluency.  These products genuinely made lives better.

It’s because of this that the company now employs over 170 people across two separate divisions, (Education & Corporate) with offices in Antrim, Boston and Brisbane.

The Job

You would initially be working on an internal marketing automation platform that the company has developed.  They have used various ‘off-the-shelf’ products in the past, but they didn’t serve their requirements.  They took the decision at the start of the year to develop their own bespoke product.  This PHP job would initially focus on the ongoing development and maintenance of this system.

Don’t worry, you would get the chance to work on several greenfield projects that are in the pipeline.  We can’t disclose what these systems are in a job ad, however, you would get the chance to work with cutting-edge technology and you will learn new development skills as well as utilising your background in object-oriented PHP.

You should have 5 years of commercial experience in software development and with at least two years commercial experience using PHP (ideally Object-Oriented PHP). You will also need 2 years’ experience using relational databases (specifically MySQL).  Some knowledge of git and Linux would be useful too.

My client provides an extensive training program that includes workshops, outside training courses, on-the-job training and access to online resources.

You would be joining a company with a very flat structure and is not corporate in any. The working environment is very supportive, and they have a collaborative culture. You would also be working in a very modern workspace which has been purpose-built for this company.

A very competitive salary (£35k - £45k) and package is on offer that includes bonus, pension, free car parking, flexible working, remote working options, subsidised gym membership and more
