Who is the company?

A Belfast company launched in 2014 and immediately disrupted the market data management industry by using technology to streamline market data reporting and administration.
They immediately got the attention of a fintech New York-based company who specialises in helping firms manage their high-value data subscriptions.  The CEO has known the founders of the Belfast-based company since they set up and was impressed with their focus in helping their clients address the ever-increasing compliance challenges.  In June 2019 they acquired this local company.

This is the third acquisition this global business has made in the last 3 years.  They now employ over 100 people across offices in New York, Minnesota, The Netherlands, London and Belfast.

They now have plans in place for 30 new jobs in Belfast in several key areas in the business.

You need to be confident in dealing with a wide range of people from hedge fund managers to technical staff.

You will be responsible for interpreting regulatory documents, applying complex business rules, importing into a database based on specific criteria, applying technical solutions to problem-solving, communicate with customers in the market data sector globally.

You will be heavily involved with data sourcing, discovery and analytics using proprietary business tools.  You will help create models and reports which provide interpretation and insight into business data.

What skills are essential?

You should have a third level degree in either Business Finance or IT related fields.  Ideally, you should have around 3-5 years’ experience.  It is not essential that you have experience within the fintech industry, but experience in data analytics is needed.  Your experience should include preparing and delivering documentation detailing outcomes of technical processes to a wide-ranging audience.  Strong skills in SQL, MS Excel and PowerPoint are needed along with analytical and reporting skills.  You should be highly numerate with the ability to solve complex problems.
